Featured Member of the Month – April 2011
Kevin Jones is a graphic & web designer working and living in Reno, Nevada. He’s currently working at KPS3 Marketing. His main interests include almost anything on the internet, his light up shoes and a new found love for NERF guns.
You can follow him on twitter, check out his facebook or see some of his side work here.
We sat down with Kevin after telling him he was featured member of the month and conducted a short interview with him to get his thoughts on Ad2 Reno, beer and the economy. It turns out he knows very little about the economy.
Question 1, from Ad2 Reno President Rebecca Wikler: Why are you just so freakin’ awesome?
Answer: Well Rebecca, it started at a young age. My parents are pretty awesome people so I think I was just destined to be great. Instead of your normal child birth I actually came jumping out of the womb wearing a tuxedo and a top hat. Don’t ask me how, it just happened that way. I really feel like this is one of the main things that set the stage (see what I did there?) for the rest of my life. At the age of 10 I had my first near death experience. Ever since I nearly choked on that applesauce I’ve always been cautious of apples… whether mashed or right off the tree. I think this is the second reason I’m so successful. Oh, and third, I think ascots look ridiculous.
Question 2, From Ad2 Reno Vice President Amber Wilhelm: You look pretty cool in your picture. Care to explain what’s going on in it, baby cakes?
Answer: Funny you should ask Amber. I was really hoping someone would ask what I was thinking when this was taken. This picture was actually shot by a good friend of mine named Mike McDowell. He has a pretty cool kid named London who is great to follow on twitter. Anyway, sorry, I was going on a tangent. This picture was taken back in 1975 right after I got done fighting in the Northern London war of Bangladesh. My platoon had just successfully completed a super-top-secret mission that I’m not really allowed to discuss, but essentially we owned some noobs. I had just gotten back to work and I was explaining what a great job I did the day before during the war… because that’s what I do, I explain my greatness. Anyhow, Mike suggested we capture the moment to ensure my manliness would be captured forever. We are thinking about submitting it to Guinness Book of World Records for Manliest Web Designer. I don’t think I’d have a hard time winning that competition. It would have been an unfair advantage if I kept all my guns, so I got rid of half of them and only kept the small ones. As you can see, these are vintage NERF guns each fully loaded with suction darts. They are no joke. The kicker of all this is I’m actually not wearing any shoes or underwear in this picture.
Question 3, From the President of the United States, Barack Obama: Kevin, please tell us in-depth, who/what inspires you?
Answer: Hugh Jackman.
Question 4, From Ad2 Reno President Rebecca Wilker: Pirates or Ninjas?
Answer: Really now? Is this 5 years ago? I read somewhere from a great man named David Calvert that the answer to this question is Wizards. I don’t feel like that is accurate. Especially because after the last Harry Potter movie comes out I’m not really sure anyone will care about Wizards anymore. I feel like the correct answer is simple: Cyborgs. Cyborgs were popular in the 80′s with Terminator, and are still popular 20 years later. Ninjas are a fad that will be undone once Tom Cruise plays one in a movie next year. Pirates will be terminated when Johnny Depp does his 7th movie as one in 2013, but Cyborgs will live forever. Literally. Because they’re robots.
Question 5, From Ad2 Reno Mascot (Who has yet to be identified, but in my head it’s either a large growler or a purple kangaroo): Kevin, what is your favorite color?
Answer: Well Ad2 Reno Mascot, I can’t answer that. I feel like if you pick one color over the other it’s considered racism. I like black just as much as I like white, and I like yellow even more. I can’t really tell you which is the best because I just don’t know. Studies have shown that red is the happiest color of all. I think it’s because it stands for sunshine. I also read somewhere that blue is the saddest color. I think the reasoning is clear, but I will explain: Blue is the color of the ocean, the ocean has waves, waves are controlled by the sun, sun starts with “s” and is three letters just like sad.
We ended up asking Kevin about 10 more questions, because we were so interested in what he had to say, but it turns out our interview was a little too boring and he fell asleep soon after. Since we’re so confident he’ll be a featured member again sometime in the future, we decided to just let him sleep and prepare ourselves for the interview round 2.
