In the spirit of Halloween, we bring you a fun-sized treat this month: Megan Stanphill. Megan is a graphic designer, social media freelancer and self-proclaimed foodie. Check out her portfolio, follow her on Twitter or get in touch via email at megan.stanphill@gmail.com.
We sat down with Megan to get the insider’s scoop of what gets the gears spinning in her very creative mind.
When was the last time you tried something new?
I tried an awesome new recipe two nights ago – mushroom sugo. It’s like spaghetti sauce, but more intense. It was really fun! When I bake, I always bake new things. On a non-food note, I also saw Hairspray!
Which activities make you lose track of time?
When I have to be organized and make lists (especially when it comes to wedding planning). I keep lists all around me. One online, one on paper and one in my phone.
If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
I would love to teach a leadership class. It would be called, “How to be a good leader while still having fun.” Every body has the ability to be a leader. Find what interests you. Dig deep and find it within. I would also love to teach arts and crafts for kids. Kids should know that abstract is cool.
How would you describe your design style?
Simplistic and colorful. The logos I make are all very one-dimensional. I think that goes with anything I design. It’s too bad clients don’t always understand the appeal of white space. Haven’t we all heard the phrase, “MAKE MY LOGO BIGGER!!!!”
What is your dream job?
I wish I knew. I really enjoy the creative aspect of advertising and connecting with people. So, as of right now, I love advertising.
