Diego is one of Ad2 Reno’s new members this year, and we hope he never, ever turns 32. His smile is addicting, and his talent is explosive. Get to know him here, and then get to know him in person at our next event. Keep up with Diego on Twitter and check out his website, The Right Brain Experiment.
Who are you and what do you do? How did you get here?
I enjoy the simple pleasures. I am a creative with a thirst for originality and innovation. I am, and will always be, a student of design and the creative process. Adventurously, when the day came to decide on a career direction, I chose design school over art school once I discovered the first few of its infinite wonders. These days, I am lucky enough to design and illustrate on a daily basis while squeezing in as much traveling as possible!
I have always enjoyed drawing. I loved it enough to get myself in trouble in middle-school for drawing my teachers, and “exaggerating” their facial features; which I have continued to do throughout school. That passion for drawing and representing ideas in a visual way, is quite likely how I ended up where I am today.
Favorite ad of all time? Why?
Oh man! I’ll have to admit I love those 1950’s Volkswagen ad campaigns; weird? Yeah, a little bit, but that is because they weren’t about the actual product. They focused on simplicity and eloquence in design while capturing, or perhaps even creating, the true essence of the VW culture.
I will also admit to loving the chicken-chasing-man Nike TV ads. “He cannot fool –the chicken.” That one gets me every time!
What is the best part of being an Ad2 Reno member?
Everyone in Ad2 Reno has the opportunity to interact with the different perspectives and opinions in the advertising industry. Plus, surrounding myself with colorful and influential personalities of other young Ad2 Reno professionals is pretty cool. They’re more than just members; they’re friends, also. Though the best part, since you asked, is the cheese and wine! THE CHEESE!
Tell us: what makes you awesome?
I am awesome because I love what I do, and I do what I love. Though, I owe my awesomeness to my parents’ awesomeness: The two individuals who have always supported my interests and cultivated my curiosity; enabling me to develop my inner geek almost naturally, and continually grow as creative thinker.
Anything else we should know?
I have this little website where you can check out my stuff and hire me, or just hang out.
